After being spurned by Terrence Ross over the weekend, the Mavericks have moved on and are planning to sign free agent forward Justin Holiday after he reached a buyout agreement with the Rockets on Monday, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports.
According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, Holiday was the Mavs' top target in the buyout market, as the team need another a 3-and-D wing off the bench after trading away Dorian Finney-Smith in the Kyrie Irving trade last week.
After agreeing to buyouts with veterans Danny Green and John Wall, Houston elected to give Holiday the same opportunity to play elsewhere, as the organization is focused on playing their younger players.
Holiday, 33, appeared in 28 games with the Hawks this season before being traded to Houston at the trade deadline. He averaged 4.5 points on 38.4 percent shooting from the field and 34.5 percent shooting from three-point range in 14.7 minutes per contest.
Holiday has played for eight different teams since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He has career averages of 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
