DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks have become one of the most marketable and popular teams in the modern NBA, thanks to the arrival of their transcendent superstar, Luka Doncic.

As a result, the Mavs have been awarded one of the most prestigious honors in the NBA for the second straight season -- a spot on the Christmas day schedule.

The Mavs will face off against Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City at 9:30 p.m. CT.

Like Thanksgiving in the NFL, the Christmas day schedule is a nationally broadcast affair, between the highest profile teams in the spot.

Last season on Christmas, the Mavs faced off against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center, where they fell 138-115.

Against the Jazz, Dallas went 1-2 last season.

Later Tuesday, the NBA announced that the Mavs will take on Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks in a road game on Oct. 21. The game is set to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be nationally televised on TNT.

The full NBA schedule will be announced on Friday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. CT.
