The Dallas Mavericks will be without star power forward/center Anthony Davis for multiple weeks due to a left adductor strain, Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon of ESPN reported Sunday evening.
Should Davis need an entire month to recover, as ESPN reported is a possibility, he would miss between 11 to 13 games. And he would have missed even more games if not for the All-Star break giving the team a week off beginning on Friday.
That's the best possible scenario for Davis. … But then comes the worst.
Marc Stein of DLLS Sports also reported Sunday evening that the team will further assess the severity of the injury on Monday to determine if David needs surgery, which would be the latest blow for a Mavericks team dealing with the fallout from trading away superstar Luka Doncic.
According to noted NBA injury expert Jeff Stotts, Davis has a history of left adductor strains dating back to his time with the New Orleans Pelicans and would 'likely' miss the rest of the season if he needed surgery.
Davis got off to a thunderous start in his Mavs' debut, piling up 26 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists before suffering the non-contact injury in third quarter.
After the game, Davis said the injury is "nothing serious" and he felt like he didn't suffer a setback after missing the previous seven games with an abdominal strain.
Shan, RJ and Bobby reacted to the news on Monday's show and how the Mavericks organization handled the protests that took place before and during Saturday's win over the Houston Rockets.
