Why can't the Mavs win a playoff Game 1 under Jason Kidd?

In 5 playoff series with Jason Kidd as the head coach, the Dallas Mavericks are 0-5 in each Game 1 of a series. What's up with those early series struggles? Does it ultimately matter as the Mavs have won 3 of the 4 series anyway?
