Dallas Stars fire Pete DeBoer after losing third straight West final and pulling Jake Oettinger

The Dallas Stars have fired head coach Pete Deboer after he led the organization to three straight Western Conference Finals appearances.

Stars general manager Jim Nill released a statement on Friday announcing the decision.

The decision to fire DeBoer isn't entirely unexpected, given the head coach's decision to pull starting goaltender Jake Oettinger in Game 5 and ensuing comments to explain his reasoning for pulling the star goalie.

In doing so, it appears that DeBoer has lost the locker room, and Nill made the decision to move on from the veteran coach, who remains without a Stanley Cup despite making the finals twice and conference finals several times, including the previous seven with three different teams (San Jose, Vegas, Dallas).
