With three first-half interceptions and four picks total against the Green Bay Packers, Baker Mayfield came up short in a game that had large playoff implications in Week 16. In a year that has been full of underwhelming outings for the Browns' 2018 No. 1 pick, this may have been the performance that brought the most derision upon the fourth-year quarterback.

However, though some criticism is warranted in the sports universe, there are lines that should never be crossed. Unfortunately, according to Emily Mayfield, who is married to Baker, those lines were crossed after Week 16.

Posting a long message on her Instagram story, Emily revealed some upsetting things that the Mayfield family has experienced in recent days from people who consider themselves "fans" of the Browns and their players (h/t TMZ).

"It's crazy how much negativity is amplified via social media," Emily Mayfield wrote. "I'm still a believer that there's more good people out there than bad, but WOW does social media make me think otherwise sometimes. Which plays into why I love to spread positivity. Our world needs more of it.

"The death threats, lies being told about my husband, and blatant DISRESPECT never ceases to amaze me. For the record - I pray for those of you who even think those thoughts, let alone type them out. I hope you can find some happiness so you stop trying to steal it from others."

Emily has often been vocal on social media, especially when it comes to fans crossing the line in their behavior toward and treatment of players on the Browns and throughout the NFL. No one deserves anything even resembling a death threat solely based on his or her on-field performance, but the unfortunate truth is that ravenous sports fans go too far often enough that it has become a somewhat frequent issue, as revealed in other stories throughout the past year.

The Browns' signal-caller also has to deal with various rumors and buzz swirling around the team regarding his future as the franchise quarterback, as there is speculation that general manager Andrew Berry and the rest of the Cleveland front office could be in pursuit of another QB in the offseason, including Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson. For instance, MMQB writer Albert Breer joined Audacy Cleveland affiliate 92.3 The Fan and discussed his thoughts regarding Deshaun Watson's fit in Cleveland. Listen to the podcast below.
