Falcons Getting Creative to Evaluate Position Battles Without Preseason Games

Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn forced to evaluate without game action.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NFL teams are facing a number of challenges leading up to the start of the season that none of them have ever dealt with before.

Among the biggest mountains to climb for these coaching staffs is how to evaluate players without having live game action.

Without preseason games the Atlanta Falcons are being creative with their practices in an attempt to accomplish by themselves what they've previously had four games against a real opponent to get done.

Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn joined John and Hugh on Thursday morning and spoke about those challenges of evaluating the roster without preseason games.

"Without some of the games, getting evaluations {is the big challenge}, new players there’s an evaluation, rookies there’s an evaluation, and a player going from year one to year two and the big jump and the roles they can have," says Dan Quinn. "Intra-squad scrimmages can help in that, finding ways to learn roles is where we’re having to be a little more creative."
