As the New York Giants continue to look for ways to dethrone the Washington Football Team atop the NFC East, the organization learned of some bad news on Thursday morning.

"We are currently working with the league's chief medical officer regarding close contacts," the Giants added in a subsequent statement. "Because of the league's most updated protocols, Giants coaches and players did not meet on either Monday or Tuesday, and the majority of the coaching staff worked remotely. At this point, there appear to be no high risk close contacts. We are awaiting confirmation from the league."

NFL.com's Tom Pelissero adds that Garrett worked a "normal day" on Wednesday and learned of his positive test overnight, and no one has been deemed a high-risk close contact at this point.

If a Cleveland-Colt McCoy reunion wasn't enough — which seems to be the case, seeing as Ian Rapoport reported that Daniel Jones' status was in doubt after he suffered a sprained ankle on top of his hamstring injury — the Cleveland-Freddie Kitchens reunion should be more than sufficient to those looking for some extra drama.

Kitchens spent the first half of the 2018 season as the running backs coach for the Browns before he was promoted to offensive coordinator following the firing of Todd Haley. In 2019, he was elevated to head coach, which turned out to be a fairly short stint. The team regressed from 7-8-1 in 2018 to 6-10 in 2019 despite preseason projections that labeled them as a potential Super Bowl contender. Kitchens' play calling was largely ridiculed at numerous points throughout the season, and he was fired afterward.

Meanwhile, new head coach Kevin Stefanski has led the Browns to a 9-4 record using a potentially historic rushing attack.

The Browns and Giants kick off in East Rutherford on Sunday night.
