CBS Sports college basketball analyst Brendan Haywood joined Nick and Stan for hour 2 of Wednesday's show.
Stan opened the Hornets draft conversation asking about possible trade up scenarios for James Wiseman. Haywood said that Wiseman is a very good player, but he wouldn’t trade up for him.
Haywood pointed LaMelo Ball as a “very unique” player as a 6’8” point guard.
Nick asked for clarity on the high praise for Ball, and Haywood reaffirmed that Ball would be the best option for the Hornets.
Haywood backed up this point by saying the fan base needs someone to fill Kemba Walker’s figurative shoes.
Going back to the idea of trading in the draft, Haywood said the Hornets need to stay away from any package possibly being offered by the Celtics.
Haywood went on to say that Charlotte needs to draft “their superstar” with this year’s draft position offering a chance to do just that.
Nick asked if the Hornets are on the cusp of being a perennial playoff team, and Haywood said with the right draft pick they could be there in two years.
Haywood closed the interview praising James Borrego’s success with the team and compared Charlotte’s trajectory to the Brooklyn Nets.
