Former Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful restraint -- a Class A misdemeanor.

Hamilton had been indicted on a felony charge of injury to a child after his teenage daughter accused him of hitting her in 2019.


The former MLB star's 14-year-old daughter told her mother, Hamilton’s ex-wife, that he struck her on the back and the legs after she made a comment that upset him.

Hamilton will pay court costs and a $500 fine, attend anger control counseling and parenting classes, and do community service.

The 40-year-old was part of the Rangers' only two World Series teams in 2010 and 2011 and was an All-Star five seasons in a row.
