Several high school football championship games are being played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington today. Schools from North Texas are in three of those contests.

South Oak Cliff High School plays Liberty Hill for the 5-A Division Two championship at 11 o'clock. The Golden Bears of South Oak Cliff have the chance to claim the first football championship for a Dallas ISD school in decades. Booker T. Washington High School won the championship in 1958 in the Prairie View Interscholastic League.
Dallas Carter defeated Converse Judson in the state 5-A championship in 1988. However, the title was later revoked and awarded to Converse Judson.
"Arguably one of the greatest high school football teams of all time...that team was legendary," said Chris Arnold of 105.3 The Fan, "but the title got snatched away because of academic disqualifications."
The community has rallied around the success of South Oak Cliff this season. Plenty of fans will attend the game at AT&T Stadium, while others will watch on the video screen at the Ellis Davis Fieldhouse.
"This game is so big for South Oak Cliff," said Arnold, "they're going to have tailgate parties...the whole nine yards Saturday morning."
Saturday afternoon, the Duncanville High School Panthers will face off against Galena Park-North Shore for the 6-A Division One championship. The two teams have battled for the championship twice before.
North Shore won in 2018 and again in 2019.
Matt Stepp with Dave Campbell's Texas Football says the Panthers of Duncanville have a good chance to win this year.
"This is their best shot," Stepp said. "On paper, they're the better team against North Shore."
Duncanville head coach Reginald Samples is the winningest African-American head coach in Texas high school football history but does not have a championship.
'They are a seven to ten-point favorite in this ball game. I think this is Coach Samples' best shot," Stepp said.
Tonight, Denton Guyer will play Westlake High School from the Eanes ISD near Austin for the 6-A Division Two championship. That game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at AT&T Stadium. The Westlake Chaparrals defeated Denton Guyer to win the championship in 2019 and beat Southlake Carroll to claim the state 6-A Division One championship in 2020.
