Jon Gruden may be the quirkiest head coach in the NFL, but new Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is making a push to be No. 2.
Sirianni, general manager Howie Roseman and vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl met with the media Wednesday, and perhaps the most notable takeaway from their session was a way that the rookie head coach is testing the competitiveness of NFL Draft prospects.
Mind you, Sirianni was playing these games of rock, paper, scissors over Zoom. Make of that what you will.
Even after trading down from No. 6 to No. 12, the Eagles face a crucial selection after going 4-11-1 in 2020, good for last place in the lowly NFC East. With a new head coach and Jalen Hurts *likely* to be the starting quarterback, the Eagles are certainly retooling their roster, if not altogether rebuilding for the first time in over two decades.
If playing rock, paper, scissors with DeVonta Smith or Patrick Surtain II helps the Eagles to get this selection right, so be it.
