The parents of a teenage sex-trafficking victim who went missing from a Dallas Mavericks game have broken their silence about their ordeal.

The 15-year-old daughter of Mavericks season-ticket holders Kyle and Brook Morris, of North Richland Hills, Texas, vanished with an unidentified man from a game at American Airlines Center in April.

The girl was found a week and a half later walking on a roadside in Oklahoma City, several miles from a hotel where her parents and lawyers say she had been kidnapped, starved and sexually assaulted.

The Morrises, speaking with ESPN and ABC's "Good Morning America," said they are breaking their silence to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking.

"We just want to make sure people understand ... that something like this can happen to anyone anywhere," Kyle Morris said. "Even if you don't think it's possible, there's people out there that they want to make it happen."

Their daughter disappeared after she had left her seat to use the restroom. Security footage from the arena showed her leaving with a man, though she did not appear to leave by force, according to her lawyer.

With the assistance of Houston-based nonprofit Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative, the girl was later found through an online ad soliciting sex, ESPN reported. Her parents identified her in nude photos.

Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the case three days before the girl was found, according to ESPN. Each of them faces varying degrees of charges, including human trafficking and rape II. Their cases are pending.

The Morrises said their daughter is safe and doing well while recovering from the traumatic incident. According to her mother, she encountered many other victims during her captivity and wondered how long they'd been held and whether anyone was searching for them.

Last month, the family's lawyer reportedly filed notice of pending litigation for alleged failure to prevent the episode. The Mavericks, American Airlines Arena, the Dallas Police Department and the hotel where the girl was allegedly held were all named.
