There are baseball brawls, then there is what happened in the Mexican League this week.
Things went off the rails during a game Wednesday night between the Toros de Tijuana and Rieleros de Aguascalientes, when Toros catcher Gabriel Gutierrez threw his bat and helmet at Rieleros pitcher Brandon Quintero after Quintero threw a pitch behind Gutierrez in the eight inning.
Gutierrez immediately charged the mound, violently swinging his bat and letting it go toward Quintero and the Rieleros catcher chased after him to prevent things from escalating.
The benches from both teams cleared which led to more skirmishes breaking out and punches being thrown — so much so, that the brawl shifted from near second base to behind third base and back out toward shortstop as players continued to go after one another.
Once the dust was settled, three players were ejected from the game, which the Toros won, 5-3.
Afterward, Toros de Tijuana player Leandro Castro blamed Rielero for what transpired, citing the team being upset over a previous matchup, according to TMZ Sports.
