The alleged racially charged incident at Coors Field on Sunday might have just been a misunderstanding.

Steve Staeger of 9News in Denver reported that the Rockies have spoken to the fan in question that was heard on TV mics yelling what appeared to be the n-word at Marlins' Lewis Brinson. Instead, the fan was actually calling for the team's mascot, whose name is Dinger.

He also added that nobody on the field said they heard anything offensive and accompanied a video highlighting the fan in question, who does appear to be motioning toward the mascot.

Later on Monday, the Rockies released a statement on their findings of the investigation, confirming that the fan was shouting for the mascot, Dinger.
