Giannis Antetokounmpo has etched his name in the annals of NBA history with one of the great NBA Finals title-clinching performances in recent memory.
The Greek Freak secured his first career championship and the Milwaukee Bucks’ first NBA Finals title in 50 years by scoring 50 points to lead Milwaukee to a 105-98 victory over the Suns and complete a comeback after falling 0-2 in the series.
His final line was 50 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks. He became the first player to ever have at least 50 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in an NBA Finals game and seventh player to have a 50-point game in the Finals, securing the NBA Finals MVP award.
What might have been the most remarkable part of his performance was shooting 17 of 19 from the free throw line — turning his biggest weakness into a strength.
It capped an amazing Finals performance from Antetokounmpo — whom many feared would be out for the playoffs after he hyperextended his knee in the Eastern Conference Finals.
But Antetokounmpo returned and finished the job and social media was buzzing as everyone showed their respect, including fellow NBA brethren LeBron James and C.J. McCollum as well as Packers (as of now) QB Aaron Rodgers.
