(SportsRadio 610) -- Texans running back David Johnson is being placed on the reserve-injured list after not practicing this week with a concussion.

To replace him, the Texans signed running back C.J. Prosise from the practice squad.

Johnson had been the Texans top back in a running game that has struggled for much of the season. He left in the first quarter of last Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering a concussion from a hit by linebacker Myles Jack.

Johnson has started in all eight games for the Texans (2-6) this season, compiling 408 yards and three touchdowns on 103 carries.

The Texans' rushing offense ranks last in DVOA, which measures efficiency, according to Pro Football Outsiders.

Duke Johnson will get the bulk of the carries Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, his former team.

Prosise will provide depth at running back. He has one carry for one yard this season, which came against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3.
