Brock Holt is heading to his third organization in the last year. According to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, the former Red Sox utility man has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers.

Rosenthal reports that Holt could earn up to $1.75 million at the big-league level with incentives, and that he chose the Rangers over major-league offers because of the opportunity they have at third base.

Holt signed with the Milwaukee Brewers last offseason, but wound up getting designated for assignment on Aug. 22 after getting off to a tough start through the first month of the season.

He signed with the Washington Nationals a week later and fared a bit better there, hitting .262 with a .668 OPS in 65 at-bats over 20 games.

Holt spent seven seasons in Boston from 2013-19 and won two World Series with the team in 2013 and 2018. During Game 3 of the 2018 ALDS against the Yankees, he became the first player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in a playoff game.

With Texas, Holt should get an opportunity to be the club's everyday third baseman. Texas moved last year's starter Isiah Kiner-Falefa over to shortstop and traded Elvis Andrus last week, leaving a void at the hot corner.

The Rangers are also very intrigued to see what their top prospect Josh Jung will do in spring training, but he may not be ready to join the big league club until later in the season.

Texas also announced minor league deals with left-handed pitcher Hyeon-jong Yang and catcher Jordan Hicks.

Yang pitched for the KBO Kia Tigers for 14 years, while Hicks was with the Diamondbacks at their alternate site last year.
