DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers haven't had too much to be excited about lately, but that changed on Wednesday when MLB announced that outfielder Adolis Garcia was selected as the American League Rookie of the Month.
Garcia becomes the ninth Ranger to win the honor and the first since Nomar Mazara won the award in 2016.
The 28-year-old, who also took home the Rangers May Player of the Month award on Tuesday, slashed .312/.348/.633 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI through 28 games last month.
Rangers president of baseball operations Jon Daniels joined the GBag Nation recently to talk about the team's budding superstar, and how he almost got away from them. You can hear that interview right here.
Garcia has a long way to go in his quest to be the A.L. Rooke of the Year, but if he does accomplish the feat, he'll join Mike Hargrove (1974) and Neftali Feliz (2010) as the only Rangers to have won the award.
