DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa might have just given some insight into how players are feeling about the club's new ballpark.
"I'm good guys. How are you guys? Just enjoying my time. I'm at the ballpark instead of being home, so I can't complain," Kiner-Falefa said when asked how he was doing ahead of the Rangers series in Houston.
When asked if he was saying he hates "home," Kiner-Falefa said he's "just happy to be at a smaller ballpark."
Kiner-Falefa saved himself some heat when he added that he's had a lot of success hitting in the much smaller Minute Maid Park.
"I love our stadium. Don't (get me wrong) ... I love our place, but I love Houston even more. I think my first hit, my first homer and ( I hit) most of my homers here."
The GBag Nation then asked if the size of the Rangers ballpark is a hot topic in the clubhouse?
"We always just joke around. But it is what it is. There's nothing we can do about it. There's actually a lot more hits than you think just because the outfielders got to player deeper. So less homers but more hits, so you can't complain."
When taking MLB Park Factors into account, the new Globe Life Field is much friendlier to pitchers than it is to hitters.
At Globe Life Park in 2019, the park was rated as the second best hitting park in all of baseball behind Coors Field in Colorado. Thus far in 2020, the new Globe Life Field is ranked 26th in offensive production.
