DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers continued to build their farm system with the selection of Cameron Cauley, a shortstop out of Barbers Hill High School (TX) with the No. 73 overall pick in the MLB Draft on Monday.

Barbers Hill HS is 35 miles east of Houston and nearly 290 miles south of Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Cauley, 18, is committed to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders next season, and he is the No. 92 ranked draft prospect, according to MLB.com.

Here's some of the scouting report on him:

"Cauley isn't a tremendously physical player, but he plays with the swagger of a bigger guy a la Dustin Pedroia. And while his listed 5-foot-10 height may be a bit generous, he's one of the more advanced hitters in the high school class, runs well and has a good chance to stick at shortstop. He sparked Barbers Hill (Mont Belvieu) to its first-ever Texas 5-A state championship this spring."
