DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers took a hit to their lineup on Thursday, with short stop Elvis Andrus and outfielder Willie Calhoun were placed on the 10-day Injured List.
The team announced the moves on Thursday via a press release.
Andrus, who has not started in three consecutive games for Texas, has been dealing with lower back issues and has struggled as a result, hitting .184 with no home runs and 3 RBI in 21 appearances this season.
Calhoun, who has struggled this year as well, hitting just .172 with 8 RBI in 18 games for the this season, was injured in Wednesday night's loss to the Padres following his go-ahead RBI in the 10th inning.
To fill the roster spots, Texas recalled Right Handed Pitcher Kyle Cody, who will be hoping to make his Major League debut during his time with the roster. Texas also added infield Yadiel Rivera to the roster, from the Alternate Training Site.
The 26-year-old had 'Tommy John' ligament replacement surgery on July 19, 2018, and missed the entirety of the 2019 season before joining the Rangers 40-man roster last November. Cody has pitched in just 2 regular season games in the minor leagues since the start of the 2018 season.
Rivera last played with the Miami Marlins during the 2018-19 season, and with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2015 to 2017.
