DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers were dealt a blow on Tuesday when they placed their No. 1 starter, Kyle Gibson, on the injured list with a right groin strain.

The good news is the club is hopeful Gibson will only miss a couple of starts, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. His next start was set to be on May 27 in Seattle. Gibson is technically eligible to return from the 10-day IL on June 1.

Gibson, 33, has been absolutely stellar this season. He's 3-0 with a 2.24 ERA (4th-best in the A.L.) and a 1.01 WHIP (5th-best in the A.L.) in ten starts.

The club also placed right-hander Hunter Wood on the 10-day IL with right elbow discomfort.

In their places, the Rangers recalled left-hander Wes Benjamin and right-hander Demarcus Evans from Triple-A Round Rock.
