The K&C Masterpiece has had multiple conversations in the offseason about whether or not Rangers prospect Justin Foscue will work out at first base this spring.
We got our answer on Friday.
According to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, the Rangers are transitioning Foscue from second base to first base this spring.
Foscue, the Rangers' 2020 first-round pick, has played almost exclusively at second base at Mississippi State and in the minor leagues.
The 24-year-old has put up offensive numbers worthy of a call-up to the big league club (.266/.394/.862), but his limitations defensively and the presence of infielders Marcus Semien, as well as Josh Smith and Ezequiel Durán on the roster, have blocked his pathway.
Foscue is the favorite to take over the majority of the designated hitter duties this season but adding first base to his repertoire could give the Rangers more options: including giving Nathaniel Lowe a rest against left-handed starters.
