DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers will be without one of their top arms in the bullpen when they open the regular season.
Rangers general manager Chris Young announced Tuesday that right-handed pitcher Jonathan Hernandez suffered a "low-grade" UCL sprain and will not throw for the next four weeks.
Young said the club hopes Hernandez won't need to undergo a surgical procedure and that he'll be ready to return by late May.
Losing Hernandez is a tough blow for the Rangers as he became their best weapon out of the bullpen in 2020.
In 31 innings of work, the flamethrower had a 2.90 ERA, 1.032 WHIP and 31 strikeouts.
