Rangers set two franchise records in 15-5 walloping of Red Sox

The Rangers' bats finally came alive in the club's series finale against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon at Globe Life Field, as the offense scored 15 runs on 16 hits. Texas scored 14 runs combined over the past five games.

After being down 4-0 in the second inning, Texas responded by scoring 15 runs straight before Boston put an end to the streak by scoring once in the 9th inning. It was the 26th time the Rangers have posted a double-digit scoring output this season, breaking the previous franchise record of 25 set in 2008.

The Rangers have now scored at least 15 runs in a game six times this season, which also broke a previous franchise record of 5 set in 1998.

The Rangers' offense was led by a pair of rookies on Wednesday, as Josh Jung and Evan Carter combined for six hits, two home runs, five runs and four RBI.

Texas had a tough start on Wednesday as starter Jon Gray failed to make it to the fourth inning for his third straight turn through the rotation. Gray allowed four runs in 2.1 innings and was pulled early in favor of left-hander Martin Perez, who was dynamite out of the bullpen once again, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings to allow the offense to get to work.
