DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) – The Texas Rangers are bringing back outfielder Delino DeShields Jr. on a minor league contract, the club announced Monday.
DeShields later confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

DeShields, 28, was sent to the Indians in trade that brought Corey Kluber to Texas ahead of the 2020 season.

DeShields hit .252 with no home runs and seven RBI in 107 at-bats with Cleveland during last year's shortened season due to COVID-19. He started 32 out of the 37 games he played and started both of the Indians A.L. Wild Card games vs the Yankees.

The Indians non-tendered him on Dec. 2, making him a free agent.

Prior to the trade, DeShields spent five seasons with the Rangers. He hit .246 with 18 homers and 126 RBI in 539 games with the club from 2015-2019.
