DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is heading back to Los Angeles, as he will replace Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer on the American League's All-Star Game roster, MLB announced Thursday.
Seager will join starting pitcher Martin Perez as the Rangers' representatives for the All-Star festivities next week at Dodger Stadium. The game is set for Tuesday, July 19 at 7 p.m. CT.
Seager, who's in the first year of the 10-year, $325 million contract he signed with the Rangers in the offseason, has caught fire recently. The 28-year-old has six home runs in his last eight games, and 21 total home runs on the year. He's hitting .348 in July to bring his season average up to .245.
Seager was previously an All-Star while playing for the Dodgers in 2016 and 2017.
