DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers are turning to the first of their many prized pitching prospects stocked in the farm system, calling up left-handed pitching prospect Cole Ragans.
The former 2016 first-round pick will make his big league debut against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night at Globe Life Field, Jeff Wilson reports.
Ragans posted a 2.81 ERA over 10 starts with Double-A Frisco before being promoted in mid-June. In 43 1/3 innings with Triple-A Round Rock, Ragans pitched to a 3.32 ERA. In his two most recent outings, the 24-year-old went a combined 12 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits, and struck out 14.
Ragans is the Rangers' No. 29 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
