The Texas Rangers will not receive a first-round bye in the postseason after the club dropped its final regular season game on Sunday to the Seattle Mariners 1-0 and the Houston Astros beat the Diamondbacks 8-1.
The results from Sunday's game mean that the Rangers and Astros finish the regular season with the same 90-72 record, but Houston is awarded the AL West division crown by way of owning the head-to-head tiebreaker over Texas by winning the season series 9-4. Texas
Texas will enter the postseason as the No. 2 wild card team and will now fly across the country to face the No. 1 wild card team, the Tampa Bay Rays, in a best-of-three game series beginning Tuesday. All three games will be held in Tampa Bay.
