DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - At the end of the MLB trade deadline window, the Texas Rangers have made yet another move to try and secure their spot on top of the AL West.

According to reports, the Rangers have acquired catcher Austin Hedges from the Pittsburgh Pirates.


Hedges is currently hitting .180 with a .237 OBP, a .230 slugging percentage, and a .467 OPS.

The details of the move have not yet been disclosed. Hedges, 30, spent the first six years of his career with the San Deigo Padres, before moving to the Cleveland Indians from 2020 to 2022.

Hedges is expected to serve the Rangers as a depth piece until the return of Jonah Heim.
