DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Texas Rangers announced their complete schedule for the 2023 season on Wednesday.
The club will host the Philadelphia Phillies on Opening Day at Globe Life Field on Thursday, March 30. They'll have an off day on March 31 before wrapping up the three-game series on April 1-2.
The schedule also includes sweeping changes to MLB's previous schedule format. Starting next season, every team will play at least one series against every opponent, regardless of league.
The new structure will see eight National League teams (Arizona - natural rival, Atlanta, Colorado, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami, Milwaukee and St. Louis along with the Phillies) play in Arlington in 2023. Conversely, the club will make road visits to Arizona (natural rival), the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati, the New York Mets, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington next season.
As a result of the changes, the Rangers will only play their AL West rivals 13 times, down from the previous average of 19 games.
