DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers fans, the time has finally arrived.
The club will promote 2019 first-round pick Josh Jung from Triple-A Round Rock to make his major league debut on Friday at Globe Life Field, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports. The club has not confirmed the news.
Jung, the No. 8 overall pick out of Texas Tech, is the club's No. 1 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
Jung missed a majority of the season after he suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder while lifting weights in February. On July 28, the Rangers placed him on their Rookie-level Arizona Complex league team. After appearing in eight games, the club transferred him to Round Rock, where he hit .273/.381/.538 with six home runs and 24 RBI in 23 games.
In 153 career minor league games, Jung hit .311./.366/.910 with 30 home runs and 118 RBI.
