Rangers outfielder Evan Carter continues to struggle against left-handed pitching and hasn't hit all that well against right-handers this spring, either. But could the Rangers actually consider sending him to the minors to begin the season?
Carter's struggles prompted a reporter to ask manager Bruce Bochy this week if the 22-year-old outfielder would be better served leading off every day with Triple-A Round Rock instead of playing in a platoon with the Rangers.
"You know," Bochy said, smiling, via the Dallas Morning News. "That's a fair question."
End of quote...
Carter is 6-for-30 this spring and 0-for-7 against left-handed pitchers, five of which were strikeouts.
Carter will have five more exhibition games to prove to his manager that he does belong in the bigs to open the season, just like he showed when he first arrived on the scene in 2023 and helped the club win its first World Series championship.
The K&C Masterpiece discussed the conundrum on Thursday's show.
