The Patriots weren't in the Super Bowl this year, but it almost felt like it.
All the former Patriots on the Buccaneers played key roles in their 31-9 win over the Chiefs to win Super Bowl LV.
Tom Brady connected with Rob Gronkowski for two first half touchdowns and added another to Antonio Brown, as Tampa Bay led 21-6 at halftime and never looked back.
Brady finished 21-for-29 with 201 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Gronkowski had his best game of the postseason, totaling a team-high six receptions, 67 yards and the two touchdowns. The tight end is a beast in Super Bowl games.
Meanwhile, after missing the NFC title game due to a knee injury, Brown hauled in five passes for 22 yards and the touchdown.
The story of the game was the Tampa Bay defense, as it dominated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. Mahomes didn't eclipse the 100-yard passing mark until late in the third quarter.
The KC quarterback finished 20-for-40 with 212 yards. The Buccaneers defense took advantage of the banged up Kansas City offensive line and pressured Mahomes all game long.
This is Brady's seventh career Super Bowl win, which caps an unbelievable first season not in New England. He now has more Super Bowls than any NFL franchise.
