For the first time in the 2020 season, the New York Jets have a lead, and it came courtesy of a Lamar Jackson-esque touchdown run by Sam Darnold.
Darnold set a new single-game rushing record for his career by rushing for 57 yards, 46 of which came on a pretty remarkable touchdown scamper:
With the first-quarter touchdown run, Darnold gave the Jets their first lead of the 2020 season. The Jets entered the evening at 0-3, with a league-worst -57 point differential.
While there's been quite a bit of speculation about what a loss to a banged-up Denver Broncos squad could mean for Adam Gase's job security, this is one of the few games on the schedule where the Jets could theoretically get a win. A loss tonight would firmly put the Jets in the driver's seat for the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, where they would almost certainly select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, ending Darnold's time with the team.
