White Sox rookie center fielder Luis Robert exited early in his team’s win against the Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday evening due to right hand soreness.
X-rays were negative, and Robert is considered day-to-day, the team said. In the seventh inning, Robert had sprawled out while unsuccessfully attempting to make a diving catch.
"He fell on it and it’s sore, but the X-rays were negative," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "He may need a day, but he could come in tomorrow and feel great."
The White Sox host the Tigers on Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon.
Luis Gonzalez replaced Robert in center field in the top of the eighth, after which he had an adventure in dropping a fly ball to center field. It mattered little, as the White Sox went on to win 10-4.
Robert entered the day hitting .286 with five homers, 13 RBIs and an .876 OPS in 22 games.
