In a shocking development Friday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals have released outside linebacker Terrell Suggs.

A late-season roster surprise: Cardinals are releasing veteran pass-rusher Terrell Suggs today, per source. The 37-year-old Suggs now will go on waivers. It’s also uncertain whether the seven-time Pro-Bowl OLB will want to continue playing. But he will be on waivers till Monday.

Suggs signed a one-year, $7 million contract in March after spending his first 16 seasons in Baltimore.

In 13 games this season, Suggs tallied 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. He returned to Baltimore in Week 2, registering three combined tackles in a 23-17 Ravens win.
The Cardinals (3-9-1) have not been competitve for most of the season and have given more playing time to their younger prospects as the losses compiled.

Kingsbury called Suggs’ release a mutual decision. Discussions have been ongoing before this week. Suggs has had his playing time shrink as the season has gone on.

Suggs, 37, reportedly left Baltimore last season because he "loved the organization too much to steal from it."

Before people start putting the pieces together for a Ravens reunion, Suggs must clear waivers by Monday to have the ability to sign to a team of his choosing.

Suggs is the franchise leader with 132.5 sacks and 33 forced fumbles during his career in the Purple and Black.
