Lamar Jackson Still Has His Heisman Trophy in a Box

Lamar Jackson

By Joe Schiller

In the midst of a record-breaking season, Lamar Jackson has done everything to deflect the attention away from himself and towards his team.

So much, that the former Heisman winner doesn't even have his most distinguished award on display.

"I don't even have a place for the Heisman," Jackson said. "I still have that in a box right now."

Jackson made sure to clarify the box is safe in his possession. But that's the kind of attitude the 22-year-old, soon-to-be NFL MVP quarterback has shown since coming to Baltimore in 2018.

Jackson said he attributes his humble attitude to his mother. He said she encouraged him to be a leader rather than a follower.

After breaking the NFL single-season quarterback rushing record and leading the league in touchdown passes, Jackson is now serving as a leader and role mode for younger football players.

Jackson was named a First-Team All-Pro, and the awards will continue to roll in this season. The goal, however, still remains the same.

"I want a Super Bowl," Jackson said. " All the accolades and stuff like that, I'll cherish that another time. I'm trying to chase something else right now."
