The Ravens strong 2019 season may of had its highlights on offense, yet their defense may have been more impressive.
On Saturday, Baltmore signed defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale to a three-year extension.
Sources: The #Ravens have signed defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale to a new 3-year contract making him the highest paid DC in the league. Richly deserved for a coach they believe will be a top head coach candidate next offseason.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 22, 2020According to Ian Rapoport, Martindale's extension makes him the highest-paid defensive coordinator in the league.
The Ravens defense ranked top-five in the league in points allowed, total yards allowed, and in rush defense.
Though Martindale had plenty to work with in the secondary, what he was able to do with a depleted front-seven was extremely impressive. The Ravens ranked sixth in the league in turnover differential, led with 13 interceptions.
Martindale's impressive second season as coordinator led to head coaching interest, though his new extension indicates how much the Ravens value his leadership.
