Not only is Greg Roman garnering head coaching interest, so is Don "Wink" Martindale.
The Ravens defensive coordinator is scheduled to interview for the New York Giants opening on Saturday, according to NFL Network's Peter Schrager.
Even though the Ravens are preparing for the playoffs, teams can interview coordinators because Baltimore has a first-round bye.
If Martindale were to become a head coach, there are reports he would want to bring along LSU passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Joe Brady. He's had tremendous success leading Joe Burrow to a Heisman Trophy-winning season and the Tigers to a National Championship. As a defensive-minded coach, this would be a smart move for Martindale if he were to become a head coach.
The Giants have also expressed interest in other candidates, most notable Baylor head coach Matt Rhule.
Martindale has had success leading one of the NFL's most aggressive defenses this season. He's a players coach and highly regarded by the Ravens organization. When asked about the possibility of becoming a head coach, Martindale said it would take a "dream-type" job to leave Baltimore.
