Ryan Mountcastle has been a highly touted prospect since being drafted in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft.

In spring training, Mountcastle is making a case for the Orioles opening day roster.

He led a thrashing of the Pirates Thursday, as the Orioles won 13-0. In the victory, Mountcastle registered three hits, including a solo home run.

After logging a homer and two doubles, Mountcastle spoke to the media about his mentality at the plate.

Surprisingly, Mountcastle did not get a september call-up in 2019 but this early showing will make the O's decision difficult. His .417 batting average is indicative of Mountcastle's production.

In 2019, he batted .312 with 25 home runs and 83 RBI in Triple-A Norfolk. For his terrific season, Mountcastle was named the International League MVP.

Mountcastle's versatility as a fielder- playing first base, third base, and left field in 2019- should create a difficult decision for the Orioles ahead of Opening Day.

If his bat keeps up, Mountcastle should be up in the majors in no time.
