Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has not played since Week 1after suffering a knee sprain.
The Ravens secondary has been shaky as of late and Smith’s unavailability has not helped matters. The Ravens surrendered more than 325 passing yards in three straight games prior to a 26-23 victory over the Steelers.
Not much has been reported about a timetable for Smith’s return. Unavailability is nothing new when regarding Smith. He has not started more than 12 games in a season since the 2015 season, where he tallied three interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and a sack.
In the past two seasons, Smith has played in 24 games and logged five interceptions and 18 pass deflections.
Still without fellow corner back Tavon Young, the Ravens could use Smith in the secondary immediately. The Ravens will be facing quarterbacks such as Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Deshaun Watson, and Jared Goff within the next five games.
Baltimore is getting set for a division matchup in Cincinnati this Sunday. Although the secondary should fare well without Smith this week, the secondary will have to get healthy in the foreseeable future.
