The Ravens' defense enters Sunday's matchup against the Bengals with questions on defense, including who will wear the green dot as the communication leader.
The role was split between Tony Jefferson and Patrick Onwuasor this season, but things have changed. Jefferson is out for the season with a knee injury and Onwuasor has moved back to WLB with the addition of Josh Bynes.
So who will it be?
Onwuasor is a candidate, but does it make sense for him to have it at the WLB spot? Not to mention, he's missed two straight days of practice with an ankle injury.
What about Bynes? He's playing the role where C.J. Mosley had the green dot, but he was signed just over a week ago.
Earl Thomas? The veteran safety is still only five games in Wink Martindale's defense but I wouldn't be surprised given his prowess. Thomas is one of the league's best for a reason.
My dark horse candidate is Chuck Clark. He and DeShon Elliott will be filling in for Jefferson the rest of the season and Clark is an experienced player in this defense. It makes sense given he plays on the latter third of the defense.
Martindale told reporters that five players wore the green dot during practice, and whoever wears it on Sunday will hold a big responsibility in a game the Ravens must win.
