After months and months of anticipation, it's finally here.
Opening Day.
The Baltimore Orioles kick off the 2019-2020 season with a matchup against the New York Yankees in the Bronx at 1:05 P.M. It begins the rebuild under Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Elias and Manager Brandon Hyde.
Here's everything you need to know for today's game.
Who: Orioles vs. Yankees
Where: Yankee Stadium
First Pitch: 1:05 P.M.
Starting Pitchers: Andrew Cashner (0-0) vs. Masahiro Tanaka (0-0)
2018 Records: Orioles (47-115), Yankees (100-62)
Andrew Cashner makes the Opening Day start on the mound in replace of an injured Alex Cobb. Slated to be the starter, Cobb suffered a groin injury in his final Spring Training start. He hopes to be healthy by the home opener against the Yankees next week.
These are two teams currently trending in opposite directions. The Orioles are building from the ground up while the Yankees are legitimate contenders for a World Series Title this season.
Even among a franchise-worst season last year, the Orioles played the Yankees well. They went 7-12 against the Bronx Bombers and always seem to play them tough within the AL East.
For the Orioles, watch Cashner on the mound and how this lineup will come together. You will likely see a number of different players on the card throughout the season. For the Yankees, watch the power of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and the rest of the lineup as they look to start their season on winning ways.
