Since Matt Weiters’ departure three years ago, catcher has been a revolving door for the Baltimore Orioles.
They’ve failed to consistently fill the position since but with Caleb Joseph gone, a young pool of talent will compete for the starting job this season.
Among them, the organization’s top former prospect, who’s looking to rebound off a disappointing major league season in 2018.
Chance Sisco was selected in the second round by the Orioles in the 2013 MLB Draft. A stud prospect out of Santiago High School in Corona, California, Sisco quickly worked his way up through the minor league ranks.
He made his Oriole debut late in the 2017 season and hit .333 from the plate with two homers and four RBIs in 10 games.
Expectations continued to rise for Sisco and following an impressive Spring Training campaign last year (batting .417), he made the Opening Day roster.
At the time, the 23-year-old was the backup to Joseph. But Sisco’s struggles became quickly apparent and he endured a rollercoaster ride of his own.
