Asa Lacy, who is a possible target for the O's with the second pick in the draft, joined Inside Access with Jason LaCanfora and Ken Weinman to talk about his time at Texas A&M. Lacy also spoke about the draft being shortened, two of the big-time hitting prospects in the draft, and what pitcher he looks up to.
"I haven't talked to them since the fall," Lacy said. "But I had a very good conversation with them in the fall and I'm very familiar with their area scout. I'm sure they're just doing their due diligence on who they want to pick and best of luck to whoever they pick. But I just know I'm ready for the opportunity, whichever team gives it to me."
Lacy finished with LaCanfora and Weinman by breaking down two of the best hitting prospects in the 2020 draft, Arizona State's Spencer Torkelson and Vanderbilt's Austin Martin.
"Start with Spencer, he's a great dude, lot of juice in the bat," Lacy said about Torkelson, who has 54 homers in three seasons at Arizona State. "He hit quite a few long home runs for USA Baseball when we played on the collegiate National team together. It was just very eye-opening on how he went about his business and really shows for what kind of guy he is."
Martin played three seasons with Vanderbilt and hit .392 last season with 10 home runs and 18 stolen bases.
"Austin Martin, just being able to watch what he's done in the SEC, especially last year. I mean it was must-watch TV."
