Bill Ripken spent 12 seasons in Major League Baseball but a lot has changed since his days as a player; specifically when it comes to the use of analytics. Ever since Moneyball was released in 2003, the baseball world has been enamored with the collection and projection of data in baseball. Bill recently released a new book titled State of Play: The Old School Guide To New School Baseball and he joined Scott Garceau & Ken Weinman recently to discuss some of the main talking points of that book.
Bill thinks people are misinterpreting the meaning of "launch angle", he thinks a catcher "framing pitches" doesn't have much of an impact on whether or not a ball is called a strike, he's not a fan of the "overshift" on defense and to Scott & Ken's surprise; he's in favor of
