Locksley did so when Maryland landed 4-star quarterback Lance LeGendre on National Signing day earlier this month and again less than one week later when 4-star safety Nick Cross decommitted from Penn State to choose the Terps.
As a freshman, Jackson was an effective dual-threat signal caller under center. He passed for 2991 yards and 20 touchdowns, adding 324 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Virginia Tech posted an impressive 9-4 record.
Jackson’s sophomore, headlined with promise and high expectations, was anything but that. He fractured his left fibula in the Hokies’ Week 3 upset loss to Old Dominion.
Jackson missed the rest of the 2018 season and decided to take his talents to College Park following a disappointing end in Blacksburg.
His arrival with the Terps is extremely exciting. Jackson is reportedly eligible to play right away and will likely be the starter following Kasim Hill’s decision to enter the transfer portal.
This provides Maryland with an immediate impact player, while allowing LeGendre to learn and develop.
Jackson will be paired with impact players on the offense including Anthony McFarland, Tayon Fleet-Davis and Jeshaun Jones.
One step at a time, the Terps continue to build from the ground up.
