Arch Manning made a surprise recruiting visit Friday, traveling to the University of Virginia to tour the school’s Charlottesville campus. This is the junior quarterback’s first known visit with the Cavaliers after previous trips to Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, LSU and his father Cooper’s alma mater, Ole Miss.
One of the most anticipated football prospects in recent memory, Manning totaled 34 touchdowns (26 passing, eight rushing) against just four interceptions last season. Identified as the top high-school player in his home state of Louisiana, the 6’4,” 215-pound QB has already received 12 scholarship offers, with reported interest from blue-chip programs including Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Tennessee, the latter attended by his uncle, recent Hall-of-Famer and five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning.

Manning, who played point guard for Isidore Newman’s state-championship basketball team this winter, doesn’t appear close to a decision and may wait until the fall to announce his plans for 2023. Given his football lineage with ties to three of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play (and a father who could have been a promising NFL receiver had he stayed healthy), Manning should be a mammoth draw wherever he lands.
